27 Down, Now Onto 28

In case you haven't heard, the Yankees last night won the World Series in 6 games.  With their 7-3 win over the Phillies, they won on the 2009 World Series in six games.

Andy Pettitte took the mound for game six.  He did enough - he wound up giving up only three runs in 5.2 innings.  But that was plenty considering the poor performance that Pedro Martinez put up.  Pedro gave up four runs in four innings, followed by Chad Durbin giving up 3 runs in only .1 innings.

Hideki Matsui was the offensive hero as he managed to pick up six RBI.  The first two came in the 2nd inning on a second deck homerun.  The next two came in the 4th on a RBI single.  Then, the next two came in the 5th on a RBI double.

Overall, Matsui ended the night 3-4 with 6 RBIs, with a .615(!!!) batting average in the World Series, earning him the honor of World Series MVP.

Not so curiously, a lot of injuries were announced after the game.  Andy Pettitte admitted that he "had nothing" when he pitched.  Mariano Rivera revealed that he had some sort of rib injury.  Furthermore, Johnny Damon left the game with a calf injury, just days after Melky Cabrera had to be replaced by Ramiro Pena on the roster with a hamstring injury.

The parade is tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 11 AM Eastern.

Also, wanna know how much of a good guy Joe Girardi is?  After the game me stopped on the side of the road to help out a woman that was in a car crash.  I suppose he will have to change his uniform number to 28 after this season, and hopefully, next year, 29.
