Damaso Marte will finally be pitching again after 2 1/2 months on the DL with left shoulder weakness and tendinitis. He has thrown batting practice already and is going to start a rehab stint with the Gulf Coast League Yankees.
I'm surprised that Marte might be able to return soon. I thought that when he hit the DL that he would be done for the season.
He had a terrible 15.19 ERA in 5.1 innings this season but I will be cut him some slack and assume that it was injury related. He did first complain of a shoulder injury during the World Baseball Classic, where he was pitching in.
If Marte can be healthy, he will be a usefull part of the bullpen again. They need him to be regardless; he is signed through 2011.
