Damaso Marte Almost Ready

According to Ronald Blum of the NY Post, Yankee LHP Damaso Marte will head to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in order to continue his rehab stint. Marte threw in two games with the Gulf Coast League Yankees, the Yankees' rookie ball affiliate. Assuming that Marte's stuff is close to where it used to be and he shows the Yankees that he is physically able to pitch in two consecutive games, I am going to speculate that he will be in the Majors by early August.

I know many Yankee fans have soured on Marte, but I am assuming that his struggles this season (and maybe even last season) were injury-related.

Besides, he's here until 2011. Might as well hope he is successful...
