Following the World Series the awards should be announced. Since the writers have already voted I felt that it was necessary for me to make my votes. I will start with Rookie of the Year.
AL Rookie of the Year:
1) Evan Longoria, 3B, Tampa Bay Rays
2) Armando Galarraga, SP, Detroit Tigers
3) Nick Blackburn, SP, Minnesota Twins
4) Alexei Ramirez, 2B, Chicago White Sox
5) Mike Aviles, SS, Kansas City Royals
6) Chris Davis, 1B, Texas Rangers
7) Joey Devine, RP, Oakland Athletics
8) Joba Chamberlain, SP, New York Yankees
9) Brad Ziegler, RP, Oakland Athletics
10) Denard Span, OF, Minnesota Twins
HM: David Murphy, OF, Texas Rangers; Jim Johnson, RP, Baltimore Orioles
Clearly I like pitching based on my 2nd and 3rd pick, but Longoria I believe should win it. The guys that would have been higher if not for playing time are guys like Davis, Chamberlain, and Span.
NL Rookie of the Year:
1) Geovanny Soto, C, Chicago Cubs
2) Joey Votto, 1B, Cincinnati Reds
3) Jair Jurrjens, SP, Atlanta Braves - nice job there Tigers...
4) Hiroki Kuroda SP, Los Angeles Dodgers
5) John Lannan, SP, Washington Nationals
6) Jorge Campillo, SP, Atlanta Braves
7) Chris Volstad, SP, Florida Marlins
8) Kosuke Fukudome, RF, Chicago Cubs
9) Clayton Kershaw, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers

Joey Devine is the diamond in the rough on your AL list. I think the years to come will prove me right. Kotsay was a bargain for this kid!
