Okay, so I was wrong. Mike Mussina is absolutely not done. In fact, he's looking excellent out there. Girardi might have an unnecessarily short leash on him, but he's been excellent.
He took the mound tonight against the Rays after their walk-off lost to the Rays last night. (For something funny, but tasteless regarding it, check out the home page at NoMaas.org).
Moose was taken out with one out in the 7th inning after allowing his first walk of the game, despite the fact that he at a mere 87 pitches. Ross Ohlendorf would come in and give up 2 hits, allowing the run to score, but the Rays lined into a lucky doubleplay. Joba would come in and strikeout the side and Mo would save his 11th game of the year.
With the exception of Robinson Cano(!!!), the offense was once again dormint. Cano went 4-4 to raise his average to .205, but the Yanks could only manage three more pitches against James Shields and the Ray bullpen in their 2-1 victory.
W: Mike Mussina (6-3)
L: James Shields (4-3)
S: Mariano Rivera (11)
