Game 7: The Moose Is Loose

New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Mike Mussina (0-1, 4.76) vs. Jason Hammel (0-0, ---)

Sorry for posting a day late. To be honest, I was just plain tired last night. I was going to post when I got home from high school at around 3:00 EST but once again, I was too tired. High school is pretty darn tiring.

Mussina pitched a gem against a usually strong Rays lineup. He shut them down giving up only 2 hits and a walk, while striking out 3 and giving up 1 run, a solo homer to Johnny Gomes, in 6 innings. Bruney (1), Farnsworth (1), and Hawkins (1) did a good job in finishing off the final game in the series.

The offense finally came back tonight as the Yankees scored 6 runs in the 6-1 win. Abreu was the star hitting 3-3 with a walk, HR, 3B and single. Mastui and Damon also added 2 hits each.

W: Mike Mussina (1-1)
L: Jason Hammel (0-1)

HR: Bobby Abreu (1)
MVP: Bobby Abreu (1)

Derek Jeter left yesterday's game with a strained quad muscle. He injured himself running down the first base line. The Yankees think he will be out until Friday at the earliest, and hope he will be ready in time for the Red Sox series. Wilson Betemit should be taking over at shortstop.
